Certificate of Professional Competence for managers (Passenger Transport)

The Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers course is essential for those seeking a career in transport management. Your course will be tailored to either the Passenger Transport or the Road Haulage Management CPC qualification. Qualifications are not transferable across transport sectors, so if you already hold a Management CPC qualification in Passenger Transport and wish to change career to manage in Road Haulage (or vice versa), you will need to train for a new qualification.

Our specialist training courses are designed to help you to gain nationally recognised transport qualifications, stay current with industry best practice and renew your periodic training. Some companies need to operate large vehicles to carry out their business, even where road haulage is not the main trade. Other companies operate passenger-carrying vehicles, such as buses and coaches. Such companies may employ a huge number of staff. The role of the professionally competent person in this type of business will be to oversee the transport operation. Here, the transport manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all the requirements of road transport law but may not do the work themselves. This may involve overseeing a number of people/employees who carry out appropriate tasks such as managing drivers and drivers’ hours, repairs and regular servicing, etc. through a system of procedures and policies which ensure compliance with road transport law.

The Learning Centre is an accredited OCR exam centre for the Certificate of Professional Competence (passenger transport and road haulage) and we can also provide training to support candidates. We provide you with the necessary materials to support your learning process and offer you the support you need on the following units:

  • Civil law
  • Commercial law
  • Social law
  • Fiscal law
  • Business and financial management of the undertaking
  • Access to the market
  • Road safety
